Default At my wits end

Every morning my cockatiel screams and screams and screams and screams. He has been doing this for SOOO long. He has times throughout the day where he does the same thing. He used to have a friend (MO) but she died in february and since he does this screaming bit. The even bigger problem is htat Einstein thinks that he is a cockatiel and so he does it back. I don't know what to do. HELP

I would suggest you get him another gal friend or maybe even try just another different species playmate/cage-mate.

If ya didn't want any chance of breeding with same species, I would just keep in two different cages right next to each other so they can touch beaks but not mate. I haven't tried the latter myself to quiet screaming, maybe someone else here has. I would allow supervised interaction between the two Tiels though when you are around.

Then there is the option of rehoming him to someone who would put him in a large outdoor flight cage with a mate and allow him to live as natural and safe a life as possible = my #1 choice and I'm sure the bird's also if he could speak for himself.

I have considered getting him another friend. He is in a HUGE cage and there is plenty of room but I am sSO worried about bringing in disease to the house that I have not. I have also not been able to locate a breeder and I refuse to by from a pet store. ARGH!!

Just be prepared if they dont like each other to keep them in different cages. Also if you QT the bird the way you should then no one well get sick.
Look around for a rescue. Tiels are given away a lot of times.

I know that my tiel screams when she wants something - usually when she's ready to come out to play but we're not ready yet, or else when she's ready to be covered at night. Could also just be your attention that he's after. Have you tried completely ignoring his screams, even walking out of the room, and not coming back in until he's quiet. And reinforce any quiet behavior with lots of praise.

He does this screaming no matter what, from the time he wakes in the morning. I have tried attention, ignoring, you name it! Since MO died it has been nothing but screaming.

I would go with getting him another tiel, he's complaining about the lack of s atisfaction in regards to his own species and honestly I have no clue how you've put up with it THIS long!

How do I quarentine a new bird. Is being an a different floor than the other birds acceptable? Can someone direct me to quarentine directions!
