Default very strange

Check this out. Nelly has been having alot of pin feathers on her head lately and today when I came home and started giving her skritches I noticed a new little patch of yellow over her eye. At first I thought it was dye froma toy but NO. It is little yellow feathers the color of her crest coming out over her eye. This has never happened before. And I have had her almost 15 yrs. Has any of you other TOO people seen this before? Any idea why? I knew my little girls was unique but...

I've seen this in a Parrotlet with Vitamin A deficiency. And Jim's Sophie with meds.

Very odd! Could be normal, could be a defeincy. I'm very curious to see if other too owners have seen this.

I've always heard that abnormal feather coloring is due to some sort of vitamin deficiency. I would have some tests run to make sure she's not lacking in something.

Calling my vet tomorrow is first on my "to do list". The thing that probably doesn't show up so well is that tese feathers are exactly the same color as her crest and under her beak and on the side of her head. My other question is what would cause a vit.def. if there has been no change in diet? Vegies, fruits, pellets are all eaten with gusto and I watch what she eats so I know she is eating not just playing. MaYbe it's an age thig with her species?

I thought about that too- her being the age she is and probably not having a change in diet. However, worst case scenario could be some sort of illness that is preventing her body from breaking down the vitamins/minerals that it needs, thus causing deficiencies. I hope it's nothing, but I think that calling your vet is a good idea! Let us know what he says.
