Default Poor Bird...

I just found this vid on YouTube. It just goes to show how important it is to educate yourself before getting a bird. The beak is grotesquely overgrown, and the owner doesn't even know the bird's species (it's a greenwing as you can see).

Poor bird, it's got a scissor beak. Unfortunatly, some people don't know what they are getting into. That could have been easily prevented with some good toys to play with...

Oh my, that poor bird!! Did you read the comments part, they only trim it if it interferes with his eating?!?!?!? I'd say that poor bird doesn't eat a whole lot then....

Wow, I have never seen an overgrown scissor beak that bad - how awful for the poor bird.

Neither have I. From the looks of it, the bird is pretty skinny as well.

I have never had to trim beaks before. All of mine stay naturally worn down because of all the wood and grooming perches they have in their cage. Poor bird, did you see it's toe nails?

I left them a long detailed comment. Hopefully, they will take it seriously. Sad though, if this bird's beak has been like this for a while, even trimming it might not fully help. There could be a long, painful road of recovery to get her beak muscles back in normal position...

Wow! Guess that owner was pretty embarassed. Hopefully he'll take our advice and take better care of his bird in the future.

Hope so. Still very sad though... Hopefully the owner will take us seriously.
