Default does this make sence to anyone?

Well, I've posted about how carmen refuses to eat. Mostly she fights to get the syring in her beak, then after i finally do, she'll eat most of the formula. I have pellets and vegies I keep giving her and nothing. I took her out of her cage, put her on the computer desk with a bowl full of vegies and nothing. I hand her a piece of carrot and she devoured it. She hasnt figured out how to use her feet to help yet, so she bites, then drops, then picks back up. anyways, she finishes it and just sits there. the bowl with vegies is still there. I hand her another piece and she loved it. then I put a few pieces on the desk and loved that. She wouldnt take it out of the bowl. and in her cage she wont eat anything. I'm hoping that eating means the infection is getting better, but does this behavior seem wierd to anyone? if puttig on the desk with vegies is gona help her eat, then hell, thats fine, I'm actually really really excited about this!

Glad she is eating something, or starting to. Babies eat in a head up position, if she has to be on the edge of a bowl she has to learn to eat lower than her feet. You may have better luck with a shallow dish to start, like a saucer.

Another thing a little birdie told me...........

you can get organic "human" baby food, and see if they will eat that, since it's more like the formula and will help you get them started on fruits and veggies. Right now I have Sweet Potatoes, sweet peas, carrots, banana's and applesauce for my 5 week old Quaker. He didn't care too much for the sweet potatoes but seems to really like the sweet peas. Unfortunately they don't seem to have a big selection with the organic, but it's still worth a shot.

I put about a teaspoon amount on a saucer and at first dipped my finger in it and he licked it off my finger, then after a while after several finger dips, he started going towards the saucer.

Just a suggestion.

I've never weaned a baby so have no advice to add. I sure would like to see some new pics, though. Carmen sounds like she's got you wrapped right around her pretty little feet.

I could not have weaned Ollie without the help of human baby food. I put a little in a small bowl (restaurant salsa dip bowl), warmed it up a bit, then she just went to town slurping it up. I actually open up a jar a month now and give it to her. I'll put some in a syringe and give it to her that way so she'll be prepared should she ever need medicated in the future. Maybe you could put some chopped up fruits or veggies in the baby food to help her with the solids.

I agree with Angie on the bowl thing. Try putting small plates or bowls (like the salsa bowl) at the bottom of her cage with the food in it.
