I know Sun conures are sexually mature around 4. And I've NEVER seen him do this before and I am aware it can happen just...that tears it, I posted up about him needing a girlfriend now I absolutely should find him one because I was sitting on my comp and heard *taptaptaptap* I look up at his rubber jingle ball in his cage, he's rubbing his pelvis on it, and regurgitating only pellet food for it, no seeds. And looking at me while I'md oing it and I'm just...>UGGHH!! Gross! No I'm not going to get rid of him because of this -_- It's just....I mean....I don't get why he didn't want privacy to...do...his man thing. I can't...I...wow. He's getting about 15 hours of light a day. He is not recieving extra protien unless you count the other day Jerry springer distracted me and he got ahold of my chimichunga. Maybe it has nothing to do with those factors and some birds just decide that you're their partner anyway? BTW does anyone know where I can go to register my bird in NJ? Thank you.

Do you mean register with the state ? like get a permit ?

Yeah, I just found out I need one for New Jersey and I've got his papers in New York so I get to spend my weekend in a car back t New york to search my old room for his papers -_- I wish his previous owners had said something like, "By the way when you move here you need to register him with the state or someone can take him away" That would have been fantastic information to have before hand.

Breeding season starts to wind down this week when the daylight hours start to decrease. Of course it's only very slightly but it turns into the other direction. Some Canaries started molting already a couple weeks ago, a little early.

So hang in there, poor guy, it's hard for them. He should start to feel better as the days get shorter as long as you dont have lights on to replace the daylight. And if he's in a dark quiet room without interuuptions for sleep. Just let him sleep naturally when dusk comes and wake up with sun.

Raise his dark leafy greens and veggies and fruit and lower the vitamin e and proteins like seeds , nuts...

No stroking beaks backs feet or butts, no hiding in your shirt, or behind pillows stuff like that. Change his toys and stuff alot, rotate his cage around the house so it's not a secure nest.

He's going to molt next going into end of summer so it would be good for the poor thing to not be in breeding frenzy AND have to molt at the same time!

( I believe all birds need a mate of their own kind but he could still have issues so the above will still apply if you know what i mean, and especially for her. Like if he gets like this at the wrong time of year)

LOL, I also have a horny Nanday. I have been hoping that as the season changes that he will calm down a bit. But my conure is alot younger than yours, he turned one in June.

My sunny likes to 'ride heads', I'll do chores and she perches and hangs out with me on the big banana clip I wear to keep my hair up. The other day she was on my son's head and he said, "look Mommy, Diva's making a nest in my hair!"

though valo and bella are not fully hormonal yet *phew* we're going through rough patches here too.... and i thought mood-swings was mainly a female thing, i was soo wrong!

cindy's advice is always spot-on... i try to follow those routines to minimize the stress on the fids...

Consider yourself lucky you have only a male. I have three females, one an adult ekkie who, btw, has a mind of her own and is not afraid to voice it!
