Default Do Tell About Your Bird Bite(s) (All Species)

The thread I posted about Lover Boy biting me in the face made me wonder about other people stories about bird bites and the circumstances surrounding the bite.
My bite happened because of my own stupidity - the story is under Face Bite. In that same thread, Nelly's Mom shared her bite story which is really kinda funny.
So, would anyone else care to share a bite story? It would be interesting to know about the bite, and the circumstances as I said.
There was a thread on another board entitled If You Get Bit, It Is Your Own Fault and it was a very hotly debated thread.
The gist of it was that we usually know or can figure out why we got bit, even if it is that we missed their body language warning us (which makes it our own fault)
Well, I hope we get lots of posts on this topic, as it is really an interesting one.

I've only suffered one bad bite from Ollie. It was definitely my fault. We were in the middle of our morning ritual (me cleaning and filling food bowls while she eats her breakfast on the counter next to me, all while we make fun noises and "chat" with each other) when I got a phone call. I answered it and proceeded to have an animated conversation with my dad. Apparently Ollie and I's morning time is OUR morning time and it is not to be interupted. I could tell her royal highness was getting upset that I wasn't paying any attention to her, so I tried to make amends (while still on the phone- stupid mistake). I stuck my finger out for her to step up, she grabbed it and pushed it away- warning #1. I tried again with the same outcome- warning #2. I kept my finger out there, more into the conversation than Ollie's body language. She stepped up. I immediately brought her in for kiss- big mistake #1:

This was taken after I went out shock, mopped up the blood from the floor, and stopped the bleeding. It's hard to see but I also had a puncture on my actual lip.

Later picture showing my scar. It is a little less noticeable now, but definitely still visible.

I am now more on guard when I'm on the phone and making contact with her. She doesn't like to share my attention!

Oh, Camille! She really tore you open didn't she. Your bite looks like it hurt quite a bit. The face bleeds so freely, especially the lip. Have you tried anything for the scar? Mederma was recommended to me by pharmacist and by my Sarasota FL daughter who works for an oral maxofacillary (sp?) surgeon.

When LB bit me, I knew I had been hit, but didn't know I had been bitten - that is how sharp his beak is. It wasn't until I put my hand to my face and felt the blood did I know I had been bitten.

Actually, it didn't hurt. It was like yours- I didn't know I was even bleeding until I saw the blood on my fingers after I touched my lip. I was just in shock. My feelings were hurt more than anything.

I have some Mederma, but I'm horribly inconsistent with putting it on. I rarely wear foundation (just powder, if even that), but when I do I can make it invisible. It really doesn't bother me that much. It's a reminder about the importance of paying attention and reading body language. One of my better "battle wounds"!

you call that a bite Camille??!!! (well yeah I do too)

this was from me not paying attention. Sophie was just playing and got hold of my nose and slowly bit down. Yes, she laughed when I got her off my nose.

I can't find the pic of my hand, Sophie thrashed it pretty good. Poor girl was scared bad. She got her leg caught in a piece of rope and I had to get it off.......... she got hold of my finger and bit hard, I'm very happy my hands are toughened from work!! I got her free and she went to her place of safety, my shoulder, for a minute then went after the rope with a vengeance before I could get it out!!

OH! OH! OHHHHH!!!! That is all I can say... OHHHHHH!
That hurts just to look at it.
And aren't they just that quick. One second all is well, and then it changes in the blink of an eye.
Ollie, the youngest U2 in the house is a nose biter, but I've always been able to tell when he is going to do it, not so my husband. A couple of weeks ago, he was playing with Ollie, and like a flash, Ollie hit and the deed was done. Right in the middle of Jerry's nose - a chunk of skin was missing.

My P'lets can give quite a bite... but have never drew blood... But they do a grinding while attached to the finger... Which is really painful... (and these were hand fed babies (by me)... Before they found each other...)
My Linnies... too sweet... I think there are 2 out of all of them that bite... but it is just a warning thing... (not to cause harm) and I only get that when I am nail trimming... My E. Budgie... no bites ever. I think I will stick to my little birds... I am not into piercings.. or pain...

Several years ago I had a budgie that could bite hard but he never broke my skin (probably because I was always very careful around her). But my two budgies now have NEVER biten me. I know I am lucky.

Denise - you are so right about the grinding bites, and the twisting bites - I had forgotten about those. Conures are great at that!!!
