Default I saw a CAG at the pet store

I went to a pet store today...one I've never been to. I have a question about a CAG I saw. It had plucked a lot of his feathers and had no tail but more disturbing was his eyes. His pupils weren't centered...they were high in the eye/iris. Sorry, I don't know the anatomy of the eye nor do I know exactly how to word exactly what I saw. The pupil was just higher than normal. I asked if he had neurological problems and the young lady answered with a giggle and "that's what I was a thinking"....Does anyone know what high/not centered pupils means?

The first time I was there, he was just sitting in his cage. When I went back with my camera, about 2 hours later, he was climbing on the outside of the cage...he was playing with the Amazon's food dish on the cage next to him. He had figured out how to open the "food gate". He acted fine, really...the young lady said he does not allow any human to touch him, though.

Anyway, I'm just sick, wondering about him. He just didn't look right with those eyes. I got some pictures of him but it's hard to see what I'm talking about with his eyes. Anybody know?

**I had gone back with my camera because of the conditions of the cages of ALL the birds. I couldn't get through to animal control so I'll be trying again on Monday. I'll walk my pictures in if I can't get them by phone. I'm hoping animal control will order them to have the CAG seen by a vet in addition to getting the birds moved to appropriately sized and clean cages.

I don't know if this will set your mind at ease or not, but I have a 24 year old TAG who is blind in one eye and "cross-eyed" in the other. Her pupil is at the top corner of her eye. It does not deter her from doing anything. She has no idea she is disabled. She one of my happiest birds. I hope this is the case for this grey, too. I was never able to find out why she is like this, as she is a rehome.

With missing feathers my guess there is either some sort of illness or neglect. Not sure about the pupils. I wonder if his condition is caused from the poor care of the pet shop? or if the grey was brought in from an owner that decided he did not want to mess with the bird any more.

You are doing the right thing by contacting animal control.

Nice to see you Heather!
