Default I have a question regarding vocalization

Hello all,

This is my fist grey and I really don't know what's considered normal since I have nothing to compare to.

Ollie is extremely quiet and has been home for a solid week. He makes an occasional squeak, squawks once or twice, and has made a few unusual sounds, but this only happens for a few minutes each night around 8:00pm It is my understanding that they may not talk until around a year of age, some times 2 years, and in rare cases never speak words. Is it normal for a baby TAG to be so quiet? I don’t care that he ever speaks words, but I would feel better if he at least made some noise more regularly letting me know every thing is alright. For all I know something could be wrong health wise.

Beside being super quiet and ultra easy going, he is playful and active. Today he was playing with our small cockapoo dog, he would be on one side of the cage and "charge" our dog making him jump back a bit, he loved it. I also gave him some paper to shred and he loved that also.

Is anyone else’s TAG like this? When does this change?

I appreciate any input!

Thanks!

How old is Ollie?
He is probably just settling in and getting used to his new surroundings, remember, this is a big change for him. If he's otherwise playful and interactive the vocalizations will come. Keep talking to him, and repeat back any noises he makes to help make a connection with him.

Good luck and congratulations!!!

He just turned 5 months old on 6-27-07. I think I need to talk to him more than I have been. I always say something to him when I make eye contact but I think I need to "chatter" more around him. I just need to get used to haveing a one way conversation wich is hard for me, but I can learn.

Thanks for the reply

LOL, if you're gonna have a happy bird, you can't be worried about looking like a total fool around them! Babbling, whistling off key, singing your fool heart out, that's what we do! Oh yeah, sometimes we beat our head against the wall in frustration, too!

Hi there. My baby CAG is 4 months old and will be with us 2 weeks this Wednesday. She is just now getting more vocal. She makes a sound almost like sh is saying "hello" when the phone rings, she squawks, beeps, clucks and chirps during the day as well, but not alot. It takes time for them to become comfortable and get a feel for their new home. I suppose soon enough you and I will look back at these quiet first weeks and say, "What the heck were we complaining about? Silence?"LOL

Bella's over a year old and my mom said she never seems to talk to anyone but me when I'm alone with her....well tonight Bella got it in her mind to let everyone hear how good she talks and put in a new word...Good Morning! My mom missed her ringing the phone and answering it with hello. She tossed in a how are you? what are you doing? She laughed along with a movie tonight along with proper use of Ow!

She watched The Last Holiday and watching someone snowboard badly was in her mind funny. She has my mom's laugh too.
