Hi All,

I read somewhere that TAGs like to be rubbed on their cheeks so much so that it puts them into a very calm state. Can anyone confirm this and the exact location?

My TAG loves this! It's also great to lightly "massage" them behind the eyes where their ears are. Mine goes into a transe and make this adorable "ohhhhh" noise. She'll sit for an hour and allow me to do this!

Yep Scarlett loves this! In fact Evan didn't want to put her to bed last night cause she was being so sweet and cute when he was rubbing her cheeks. I always rub right above her ears.

Ollie does not seem to like scratches or rubs. He always pulls away or ducks his head trying to dodge my hand. I have to hold on to his toes firmly to keep him from falling backwards off my hand. Since he was a baby, I have always rubbed the back of his head and sometimes his cheak, so he should be very used to it. As to why he tries to avoid it, I really don't know.

I still rub the back of his neck every day regardless, and I also handle his wings to keep him used to being handled all over.

Ollie loves to be scritched all over her head and neck. Really, you shouldn't pet them anywhere else. She'll sit on my shoulder and just about fall asleep to me scritching her.

wow, I wish Ollie was like that. He will have none of it. perhaps when he gets older he will change.

Oh Gosh gracie loves to be rubbed on the head! She'll lean over on her chest and ly there with her head on the ground. And she'll close her eyes. LOL it's like she's in heaven!! hehe

I'll get a video of it and post it sometime!! It's SO cute!

I wonder what I am doing wrong. Is there anyone besides me that has a grey that does not like to be rubbed?

I know of plenty. Many parrots don't like to be 'petted'. Ollie will tolerate scritches all the time, but it's only in the evening when she's sleepy and cuddly that she'll really get into it or beg for it. Don't worry, you're not doing anything wrong!

I wouldn't worry either. Everything is so new to the baby. Zakiya has been here a week today and she is just starting to really let me rub her face, beak and eyes. She has started to bend for a scratch as well when she is in the mood! All the comfort zones will come in time. I just have to try to remember, Z doesn't know how long I waited or how much she is loved & was wanted. All she knows is she's missing her "mommy", feathered siblings, and all thats familiar. It will be ok!
