Default Burned bird

Last night when I was watching the wild fids feed, I thought I saw this little Wren with a funny looking head. It was getting dark and I did not get a good look.

I was late feeding them this morning. About an hour ago I went outside and saw him again. Sure enough...he has been burned or injured badly around the face and neck. He seems to be eating and flying just fine but I had thought about capturing him and taking him to the wildlife sanctuary to mend.
I think for now, I will just keep an eye on him (he comes often).
It would not be uncommon for a bird to have gotten burned because we have many brush fires this time of year.
If I decide he is in trouble, I will try to catch him. I have a net but will try toweling first.

Any suggestions?

Just saw him again. Most of the wren come to feed in flocks....this little guy is a loner. He seems to be doing fine as far as flying and eating so, I won't worry for now.

I hate to say this but being a volunteer at a wildlife refuse and depending on how bad the burn is, there's a chance the little one would be put down.
Sooooo if possible and if you can capture the little one safely neosporin will help ease the suffering a great deal.
If the healing process is already underway, best to just let things be and remain vigilant.
I am concerned about infection, but if it appears scabbed and or healing has begun...(not raw as if new)...then mother has already began to work her wonders and that little one is very lucky...
Do your best to get a better look see.....

Y'know, Susan, I Have noticed more wrens in my yard this year now that you mention it. I thought it was just more babies but, maybe, they are coming W towards the water from the interstate. I'm putting out more food in a little bit also. I recycle the fids food dishes by mixing the leftovers with birdseed so they get pellets, sprouts, stale BIRDIEBREAD, etc. and no complaints so far!
