PARROT LOST
OWNER PLEADING FOR HER RETURN

This beloved parrot escaped when her owner was briefly distracted. She has never been in the wild before, so, of course, there has been great concern about her ability to survive on her own. She is fully flighted. She has been sighted several times, so she does have some survival skills. Of course, predators such as hawks, eagles and owls are always worrisome. She really has little-to-no defense against them.

This parrot Naima has been a precious companion to 74-year-old Barbara for 3 years. They are very closely bonded and the loss has been devastating to her.

Naima will sit on Barbara's shoulder and put her beak and forehead against Barbara's cheek to have her head scratched. Sometimes at night, when asked if she wants to go "night-night", she'll look at Barbara and say, "okay". Or she'll pause and a moment or so later will say "okay", after she's thought about it a bit. She would spend almost all day on Barbara's shoulder, if allowed.

Naima is approximately 9" tall. Her body is a bright green and the wings are black with the bright green on the ends of the feathers. There is a fair amount of orange over her beak on her "forehead", on her wing edges, plus she has orange "socks". Her beak is large (and sharp).

Birds born in captivity do not have the skills that parent raised parrots have to fend for themselves in the wild. It has to be confusing and frightening for them to be in such an unfamiliar and hostile environment and not know how to survive. They get imprinted on humans and, as strange as it may seem, some really don't know they're birds.

Many fliers have been distributed in the general area of Arapahoe Road and Quebec Street, which is the area in which she lived. Notices have also been placed on the internet on craigslist.com and 911parrotalert.com. Local veterinarians have been notified.

This is a heartfelt plea to anyone who may possibly have her to please call Barbara at 303-694-3110 to arrange her return. A reward is being offered. She is sorely missed.

If she is sighted, please call as that information will give an area in which I can search for her.

Greenwood Village and Arapahoe County Police and Animal Control Departments are aware of her status, so they may be contacted as well.

It should be mentioned that she has a medical condition that, if neglected, will have severe consequences to her.

Your support will be greatly appreciated!!!
