Are there any new updates on Zakiya? Any idea when she will be coming home?

Well let's see....I spoke with Zakiyas breeder Wednesday. She said she is flying all over the place doing very well. Loves to be groomed and preened by the baby caiques she also raises, but when Z has had enough, she lifts her head so the caique can't finish. It was a really cute discription. She is 462 grams now at 13 weeks old. I am bummed though as she is still on 4 small feedings a day. Teresa says she eats a bit of formula, then stops and goes to fruits and veggies. But 4 feedings a day?? Argh, she wont be home till Christmas! (I hope I didn't just jinx myself!) I haven't bought anything for her yet as I couldn't stand to look at all the stuff with no baby! But I am ordering an aviator harness and soft sided carrier. I plan to take her alot of places to socialize her. Yeah, I have to say I LOVE the name Zakiya as well. It was a toss up, but when I saw her, I knew that was the one! So..I guess I just have to wait till she's ready. I hope its within this month though! Thanks for asking all! You guys are grey't!

It'll go by in no time! Once Gracie went down to 2 feedings a day. I felt like the time zipped by!

If she is starting to refuse some of the feedings that is a good thing! I know how frustrating the wait can be and how disappointed I was when Scarlett couldn't come home the week we had planned. I cried because I just wanted my girl home and it seemed forever away. But she is here and just as crazy as the rest of my flock! Whats a few weeks in 50 years? Keep your chin up it sounds to me that since she is gaining more independence by flying and refusing some of the feeding she is on track to come home!

I can't imagine how difficult it is to wait. Your beautiful smile in your avatar shows how excited and happy you are to be with her. I hope in no time at all we'll all be saying, "Welcome Home Zakiya!"

Hi again all! Breeder emailed me and said Zakiya should be home by the end of June! Give or take a week (I hope take). She told me about regressive begging and what to do, & how she's only a phone call away etc. I can't believe we are in Z is close to coming home discussions! (Well, when you've waited since last November to see if parents were "working the nest" a few more weeks is close! LOL) I am going to get her cage this week! Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
