Happy 4 month Hatch Day to your precious baby.

Try only giving him a treat when he stays on playstand. Hang some fun toys that he likes on the playstand also. Just a suggestion. I am sure there are other good ideas that others have also.

I have the same problem with Scarlett! It can get frustrating when I am trying to do stuff around the house and she is always flying to me. I just put as many toys as I could on her playtop and when I place her back up there I give her a treat, either an almond or a foot toy. It seems to occupy her for 20minutes at a time or so, lol.

Ollie had this same problem-bad! I would praise her for any amount of time she would stay on her gym. Starting with 30 seconds (if she stayed, "Good Girl!" *treat reward*), then a minute, then 2 minutes, 5 minutes.... Now its not a big deal because she has numerous play gyms and I encourage her to fly to each and every one of them. But at the time I needed her to learn to play independently where I put her.

Hanging some favorite toys is a must. If they have nothing enticing them to stay there...then why would they want to?

Patti - so glad you are enjoying Toby! Like everyone said, this is somewhat common. Just keep trying and do the "toy thing".

Bella must be a freak of nature then. She loves to stay on her stand but I have plenty of toys for her there. She'll come off every now and then but I can leave her there without too much worry.

Make sure you don't give him a treat as soon as you put him back on the stand, either. If you do you're just teaching him that if he flies to you, you'll put him on the stand and give him a treat! Trust me, he will pick that trick up amazingly fast! You might have to start out slowly by staying right near him, rewarding him like Camille said, and work your way further away and for longer periods. Interesting toys help too, but ya gotta figure of course he wants to be with Mom if he can be!
