Default Handfeeding

How common is it for budgies to be hand fed instead of parent raised? One of the local petstores by me (disgusting store....grrr it makes me mad) has a pen full of cockatiels and budgies and the budgies are obviously not handfed but I know some places do (I I just don't know if its a rare thing though). After having a parent raised budgie for a while and the two of you bond, do thye act the same as a hand fed baby would?

I have been wondering this for a long time and never thought to ask you budgie goers

Default Re: Handfeeding

Parent raised budgies do act the same as hand raised once the bond is formed. Hand raised can seem slightly tamer but not much, compared to a socialized baby. The parents do the hard work of feeding and you just play with the baby everyday while it is in the nest box. I mostly allow the parents to raise and we just play as there is not the marked extra tameness that comes from handraising bigger parrots.
