Default New flock members and the great escape.

Today was fun to say the least. I had to leave my very comfortable bed before the sun was up, to feed my birdies so that I could go to an auction. After feeding time at the zoo, I put my inside suns and budgies in the aviary. The tiny babies I delivered to my sister so she could take care of them for me.

Last night I printed a map for myself but I could not find it in the morning, so I sort of took the scenic route to the auction. I went because I am looking for a pet macaw. No pets for sale today, it was only breeders.

I found myself bidding on a pair of blue ringies which I got at a real good price. All the birds were vet checked last night, so I had no worries about bringing home new birds. On the way home I collected my babies and now the ringies are resident in the aviary.

The next bit of fun then occurred, I was collecting the pet budgies and suns from the aviary and one of the budgies who normally live in the aviary hitchhiked out on my back. I am so used to have birds on me that I was not aware I had a passenger till it flew when I got out the safety door. I think I frightened him because I have to close the door with a bang to make sure it stays closed. After putting the budgies I had in my hand inside the house I went hunting with the net to find the escapee. He is safely captured and now inside my house as he seems to think he should live inside. Silver (the escapee) is a baby, who was returned to the aviary, his choice, and now it seems he wants to be a pet again. In summer I allowed the budgies to choose who wanted to come inside at night. They all wait at the door to be taken in. Silver at the time did not want to be inside the house. The pet suns are always eager to get out in the morning but call frantically at the wire for rescue when they see darkness falling.

Glad to read that Silver is safe and sound after his little escape. I know what you mean about not even realizing you have a hitchhiker at times. I can't wait to see pictures of your new Ringies. Do they have names yet?

My daughter is in charge of names, she does not even know about them yet, will be a surprise when she comes home from her dad. The budgies and ringies are mostly her project, I am just the buyer and maker of food, I dish up for everybirdy. Michaela is the feeder and water washer for the ringies and budgies, I only take care of them when she is not here. I take care of the breeding suns and oversee the welfare of all. Michaela is also responsible for the feeding and welfare of her pet budgies. The welfare, entertainment, toys and feeding of the pet suns is shared by my son, daughter and myself. They are fairly eye and labor intensive. In this house if you want an animal or bird you have to be responsible for your pet(s).
