Default take a look please.........

please look at the photo below of Sophie. I had thought that her feathers had not grown in yet as she has been molting. I had the lady over today that trims the other threes nails and feathers and she said it looked like Sophies head feathers are growing in discolored???!!! Any ideas?

Maybe it's stress related? Due to her beak accident. That, or I've heard of diet being a big contributer to feather discolorations, but your guys seem to get a fantastic diet. Do you think they could have just recently come in since her fall?

She's got the Eccie Pox ... or was that icky pockets ... hot pickets ... pitted femur ... spotted fever ... I have no idea but I hope it's not something serious even if it looks kind of cool.
Only psychedelic Eclectus in the world, lol. Those polka dots could make you millions, millions I say, millions, lol.
Seriously though, I truly hope that it is nothing bad, the poor thing has been through enough as of late.

yeah its something like that!!!

Whew!! I guess after that fall and all I'm still a little jumpy. Here is one for the books everybiry!!! I am going to have a polka dotted Ekkie until her next molt. Good call Camille!! The antibiotics. Thats what has caused the discolorization.

Meloxicam was for pain.
cefadroxil was the antibiotic

Thats it. I got the wifes card and parts figured out. I'm going to go buy toy parts for Polky........... oops I mean Sophie!!!

Jim, send that photo to Laurella Desborough with her history and she will give you good advise. I've read alot from her on feathers/anolmalies in Ekkies but I dont want to misquote her so better you get it from her directly. There are all kinds of feather coloration diagnoses with Ekkies.

I've also seen that on Pickles with her vitamin a deficiency but in giant patches but I dont think that would be Sophie since she just had labs, right?

Check your PM I'll give you the link to Laurella in case you dont have it from before.

She'll need to know the med history, the labs you did and her diet to make a good guess.

By the way, a simple answer is colored pellets. In the Ekkie you can get yellow, sulfur or olive because they cannot create the red where they should.

While you're at it, look for any black or stress bars.

Yep, Duricef is the "human drug" tradename and Mobic is the TM for the analgesic. Not sure of the vet TMs (if there are any, may be off label use), my vet formularies are at work (as are my human ones, but those names stick in my brain better since I have been doing mostly human meds for about 20 yr now!)
