Default goin crazy

well, I'm driving myself nuts trying to find a playstand/gym for my amazon that will be space efficient and relativley cost efficient and hopefully he'll actually use it...... shopping online drives me nuts cause I know half the time things advertised for amazon size parrots are too small, like minmum sizes.... I found 1 hanging and a few stands I'm going to post and if you guys can give me and ideas or sugestions on wich ones you think are best, I'd appreciate it. I'm pribably going to get one hanging and one standing...

Regarding this stand: Hanging Java Gym/3-Tier/Bamboo Amazon Size, we carry them at the store - from mini to extra large, which is what is pictured here. Just so that you know - they weigh a ton but the birds love them! I would estimate they weigh a bit more than 11 lbs, unless they are a different from the ones we have. I'll put it to you this way - I can't lift them. Do you have a beam in the ceiling that you can attach it to? You will need ceiling protector also to stop your amazon from traveling to the ceiling and eating it. However, like I said, they love these!

The manzanita stands are great but I would recommend a sand-blasted stand as they are not as slippery.

I fear that the PVC stand you are showing may not have enough "activity" and your amazon may get bored.

Sorry to be so negative - I just don't want you to spend your money on something with which you may not be satisfied. Take it from one who knows - I have a garage full of useless stands that ended up being a waste of money.

I would highly recommend one of Wayne's Bottlebrush hanging gyms. They don't weigh a ton, and birds seem to like the texture of the Bottlebrush. I think the swaying motion of a hanging stand is a plus as well. He will custom size it just as you wish.

Kathie, I'm considering buying one for Ollie. Is is possible to 'rough it up' yourself? Do you know where I could find one that is sand blasted?

I don't have an Amazon, but I was going to recommend a hanging gym as well - at least a large hanging boing - and a tabletop gym, the more the better All of my guys LOVE their hanging gyms, they prefer to land on the hanging gyms when they land after a long flight.

And the hoopballs seem to be a huge success with many birds, maybe making a hoopball is in order?

I've yet to meet a bird of any size that didn't love Deb's hoopballs! Mikey Blue even has one in his cage for sleeping on, and that doesn't include the big one in the aviary that they all like to wrestle over. She takes orders for hoopballs in 2 different sizes, ya know :-).

Here, she posts as "Deb". I'd think you could simply pm her and ask her prices and whether or not she can ship them.
