Default Question

We are having really bad winds & thunder & lightening here. Pita was in his cage, on his swing, when all of a sudden I heard a banging at the window, and Pita flew out of his cage and landed on the floor. I picked him up, and started walking with him, when he jumped off my shoulder after being spooked. When we got upstairs he was sitting on my shoulder and went to go into my shirt, but he climbed on my finger instead. I noticed that he kept raising his left foot. Sometimes biting at it, and sometimes just tucking it up. I felt it all over and it didn't seem to hurt him. I put him on the floor and he waddled like normal to me. I've since put him to bed.

Do you think it's nothing? Could it be he was just glad to be near me? Or could he have hurt it? I'll see how it is in the morning.

He may have hurt it when he flew out and it might be a bit sore. Poor little guy. I'm sure he'll be fine.

I have had my little guys hurt their feet before. Just keep an eye on it. Hope it is better in the morning!

could just be a light sprain from getting spooked.... how is his little foot doing this morning? (as long as he doesn't protest when you feel it, i don't think it's seriously injured)

It's possible Pita lightly sprained a toe or two from jumping while frightened, maybe he didn't have time to prep his landing right. Or it may just be a nervous thing that will go away. You know how you can sometimes get a spot that is itchy for no reason, but later you realize you were really nervous or wound up about that time? I think the fids have the same reaction. You guys were having a bad storm and I'm sure there is some wild trigger in birds that tells them to get to a good shelter, etc. Maybe the foot was just a reaction to the internal need to get further under shelter. Just a guess!

Hi everyone.....the little guy is just fine. Climbing & hanging, like normal.

It didn't seem to bother him when I was rubbing and bending it, so maybe he was a bit scared and didn't know what else to do.

LOL Kind of a birds way of saying "HOLY CRAP WHAT WAS THAT???"

Thanx for all the answers and the concern.
