Hey, I wanted to let everyone know that I am getting a blue front Amazon!!
Bit of history here: we have had smaller birds, like tiels, for a few years and thought we might want to step up to a parrot, but wasn’t sure. I asked to birdsit a good friend’s Yellownape, Cecil, while they went to the beach for the winter. It was awesome. Cecil is 24 years old, a lil set in his ways, but by my reading, he is true to the Amazon behavior, a bit unpredictable at times, but a wonderful animal. Alas, time came for him to go home and he did and he is doing fine. But, the week before he went home, he developed diabetes, that is another story, but he is doing fine now. My plans were to get an Eclectus this summer, a baby, from Laurella Desborough in Florida
I had posted these events on another forum.A nice lady on that forum had read my concerns and love for these birds and paid attention to all of the goings on with Cecil.
Last week, she asked me to take a Baby. I was hesitant at first, but after some research, and seeing some videos of this bird…she had me at hello.
She is 6 years old. She is beautiful. She bought her from a pet store where she was in a very small miserable cage. She has had her for a little over a year. She is doing great, she says, and the only reason she needs to rehome her is that she can’t spend enough time with her. She has a too and her husband has a grey. She is a good talker and is just yearning for some attention. And it just so happens that we’re yearning to have a bird that needs attention. Our kids grew very attached to Cecil over the winter months, as did we. I read several books over the winter about parrots and became more enthralled with them and how smart they are.
I’ve cancelled the Eclectus order, (Laurealla understood and thought Baby is a good bird from what we can tell). We will be doing some traveling for the month of June and when we return, I will be traveling to get Baby.
I don’t think she will mind, here are some videos of her:

she is enjoying some good belly rubs and appears to be pretty open to some petting.
We will go thru some adjustments getting her acclimated to us, but we are a fun and loving family and our kids are VERY excited to be getting her. I can’t wait to leave to go get her.
Cecil’s presence had become such a part of our house, it feels empty now. Cecil ran on his perch while I ran on the treadmill. When I lifted weights and grunted, he grunted and strained. His cage was in the exercise room. If I didn’t cover him up at nite, he’d loudly announce HELLO! He was great, nearly tore my right hand off, but I loved him.
Even with the business of Dood, Cecil still is missed. Baby won’t be Cecil, but…she will be Baby..OUR baby. haha
I’m taking this very serious because I don’t plan on getting the bird to “try out”. Unless some completely unforeseen problem arises, Baby is mine until I pass on to the great nest in the sky.
So, just wanted to make the rehome announcement and share in the excitement.
