Default Play gyms

Hi

I'm looking for two play gyms that will be exciting a cockatiel and a senegal that are not terribly expensive. Is it possible to make your own and if so has anyone done so. I'd like to know how?

Thanks

Here is a link to Ollie's gyms. Obviously they are made for larger birds, but all one would have to do is use smaller PVC pipe, or thinner rope on the hoopball. PVC is so fun to work with- you can be so creative with it, plus- its cheap! Ollie absolutely loves her hoopball. You can find the instructions for that here: The Hoopball...A DIY Project

Good luck, have fun, and take pictures of whatever you buy or create!

I forgot to mention that when I was trying to get ideas for gyms, I was searching ebay, online bird stores, pretty much all over the internet just for pictures of neat gyms. I saved all the ones I liked, compared them, tweaked them, and came up with my own gym based off of those others.

Here is a play gym that I made about a month ago for my GCC and tiels, I haven't quite finished adding all the toys that I want to yet, but it is coming along rather nicely. And is was VERY easy to make, I reccomend getting a pipe cutter when working with PVC as it makes simple work of it.

What a great idea! What kind of rope are you winding around the pipe?

The other question I have is how did you come up with a design? How did you know what size pieces you needed to cut, etc., etc.

I used really small sisal rope to wrap around the pipe which took forever. That was the worst part LOL. The blue stuff is just vet wrap and MUCH easier.

I actually seen someone post a play stand similar to this one on a different forum and just make my own style, I am not one for measuring and actually making a plan so I just did it as I went along, the most important part is to make sure you have enough T connectors, elbows, endcaps and I used one X connector. When I started it, I actually made it to big it was double the size, so I cut it down to a more convienent size, I still plan to attach a swing and some other fun toys for the fids.

They are spoiled rotten.
