Default Bruised eye...

I was wondering if you guys have some suggestions to help with Valo's little bruise on his eye.... (he has a shiner )

Yesterday morning, Mr. Stinkefuss thought he was a little smartie and flew over to Pita's cage... well, Pita wasn't thrilled about that idea, and did let him know... though I was quick to grab Valo, Pita must have gotten him on the eye.... Valo shut his eye a little more than usual, and I could tell it was bugging him a bit... I checked on him yesterday at noon, and the eye seemed fine - a little red, but he kept it open... it seemed the same in the evening...

Well, it's still fine... but we have a nice redish/blueish/purplish bruise around the eye... he still keeps it open and all, but it's a tiny bit runny, and you can see the bruise on the white skin around his eye when he closes it...

I was planning on getting some chamomile tea tonight, and take some soaked, cooled tea bags and place them on his little eye to calm it.... (that's what my mom did with us when we had bruises, and I always brought home plenty)... sounds like a good idea?

I was wondering if you had any other suggestions - so far he's behaving all normal and the eye is open and clear, so I don't think it's necessary to take him to the vet (correct me if I'm wrong)... however, if it worsens slightly instead of getting better, I will take him...

I'm not a vet but think he will be fine, the facial patch bruises very easy. Please continue to keep a close eye on him. Keep the vet phone number handy should you think you need to call him.

aww...poor little Valo. So do you think he learned his lesson - or do you think as soon as your back is turned he'll be right back on Pita's cage? LOL

LOL! This is a GCC we're talking about here you know! With Quito, it usually requires approximately 688 repetitions to sink in. After that, if she feels like it, she may comply. If it's the third Tuesday after a Blue Moon, two hours after high tide.

Valo's eye wasn't looking very good this morning - when he got up, his eye was closed and he had some troubles opening it... I placed some cool, wet towel on it and it got a little better; the swelling also went down a bit about 30min after he got up... but it was obviously bugging him, and he kept scratching it

I called the vet after I left home, and we agreed that I drop Valo off tomorrow morning since she's all booked, but she'll look at his little eye when she can squeeze it in... this way, I can go to work and don't have to wait there.

However, I checked on him at noon, and his eye looks almost normal I'm a little confused now... I guess I'll see how it looks tomorrow, if it's better I call in and let her know.... (have to admit, that money does play a little role here since I've to chip out quite a bit of it to fix my car, and Valo was just at the vet at the beginning of the week)... but if it looks kind of similar to this morning, we're heading to the vet again....

How is Gayla? Does Pita eat real food yet? I'm sorry to say but the chance of Valo learning from one experience is two chances zero and none.

Bee, isn't that always the way? As soon as you make an appointment they start acting better. I hope it's still looking good in the morning.
