Default Parrotlet is home!

So, it's been a long day! My daughter had a horse show - so we got up at 5:30 this morning and took off. We didn't back form the show till about 5 p.m. (she did great by the way! Showed in her first jumper classes and got a 6th and a 2nd place!) Anyway! We stopped at the pet store on the way home and I talked to the owner. In the end we agreed on a price and while he doesn't normally give health guarantees - I got him to give me 1 in writing. So, the parrotlet came home with us. He/she (maybe one of you parrotlet experts can look at the pics and see if you can tell?) seems pretty sweet really. He came to the front of the cage while we were at the store and chattered and chirped at us. Once we got him home, I've pretty much left him alone. But I was putting in a toy for him and he let me rub his little toes! He even made some cute little noises at me while I was leaving the room. I'll be calling the vet. 1st thing Monday morning and getting an appointment to take him in and have him checked out. Now we just need to figure out if we have a boy or a girl and settle on a name! Suggestions welcome!

Ahhh....Denise beat me to it. Yes, you have a boy!!! My little boy was named.... SKITTLES... but that's out of question for you. How about Booberry?? You can call him Boo.

What does Cosmo think of all this? Do you ever feel like I'm stalking that little guy?

I call the painted conure at the store Poindexter, but the owner has named him Boo! He's my little Cosmo "fix"!!!

Anyway, congrats on your little boy!!!

What a cute little guy, great color! Congrats to your daughter on her ribbons. My sister and I showed hunters and jumpers when we were kids, great fun! Enjoy the newest arrival!

Thanks guys! I think he's doing pretty well so far. He took some food from my hand before I covered him for the night! He makes such sweet noises! I also saw him playing with one of the toys I put in his cage. (he didn't have any toys in his cage at the store- so I only put 2 in so far for him to get used to - he also only had plastic perches there - yuck!) He's been hanging out on his cotton perch and climbing around the cage.

Sally - he's in Zoey's old cage - I measured it - can't remember for sure - but I think it's like 24w x 19d x 27h - or something close to that. I swear it looks 3x the size cage they had him in at the store.

Still thinking of a name.
