Default At the Bird Fair... uh-oh

Well, since the rest of the family is out of town at a wedding, my grandmother and I went to the bird show in Forest Oark. I had to talk to the guy we got Harley from, telling him how great she is doing. I ran into the lady we got Zazu (rehomed ekkie) from, and then, we met the lady in Norcross where we ran into BIG trouble...

She runs a re-home rescue type of thing and was having to rehome her 25 yo CAG she had for 7 years. Well, she absolutly was not going to let him go to anyone. But, she loved my grandmother, and the bird and her got along so well too. He is a bit if a plucker, but my grandmother has been wanting a grey forever, and so she is going to adopt him! We are both so excited; she is including his cage and toys, but we couldn't resist buying more! We had mainly come there to get another lovebird. Well, this lady has one who is VERY lonely, and so is my grandmothers lovie. Long story short, my grandmother is probably going to adopt her to (woman said she would give him to us if he went to the right home, a large cage and lots of toys and good diet) I am still unsure if we are going to adopt him, but this is one bird fair that is unforgetable!

That is wonderful! Hope I show more self control tomorrow, but if the match was made in heaven, who are we to disagree, eh?

We are just so extatic (sp?)! Neither of us have ever 'rescued' a bird, so this will be a hige learning experiance. I will get some pics as soon as I can. Poor baby, he was just dieing for some love! I am sure my grandmother's lovie is going to be so... surprised! We had gone their mainly to get another lovebird, and are getting a grey and then possibly another lovie. I don't know what we are going to do!

But, I have god children now! Yay! They are going to be staying over during the summer while my grandparents travel, so we are getting everybody checked out by a vet (as soon as I find one near us) and if they have a clean bill of health, my home is going to become birdy heaven!

That reminds me, does anyone have any advice on getting an 'older' bird?

congrats! Your grandmothers life will change with that grey for sure.
I have adopted several older birds including greys. If your grandma has any questions I would be very happy to help out.

Go, but leave your 'cards' at home. Just take enough money to buy what you need. Oh, & don't take your debt card either....

I had a Lesser Too land on me at a fair - i really fell in love but thankfully went home needy.
