Default Share your efficiencies!

None of us seem to have enough a time in a day to do what we need and want to do! Let's share each others efficiencies...what works for you?

When I feed my large flock, I use a sectioned tupperware tray to carry the food to each one's bowl, large or small, with the diet they want or need.

I have all my pellets (well, not all, the bulk is stored elsewhere) in covered pitchers which I keep under the cages so I can fill their bowls in the morning without having to open my eyes all the way.

Also (not too innovative) freeze beans and rice on cookie sheets then just break off a chunk to nuke for them when they want it.

I cant say that Im efficient at all. Im anal retentive and take it to a whole new level! I give the pellet mix in clean bowls everyday and clean cages everyday. Then theres the fresh meals, all the perches are cleaned daily. I wish I could make it easier without slacking!

I cook and freeze so I only have to take out for each day not cook daily. I take the food out the deepfreeze the night before so that is has defrosted the next morning. In my kitchen I mix up and dish up into all the dishes. I carry these stacked and serve all the birds swopping new for old. Stainless coop cups do stack rather well. Afterwards I have to rinse and give new water in old water dishes.

I am so inefficient it isn't funny. Somehow the birds and dogs always get fed, bathed, new toys, and lots of attention. But everything else gets put on the back burner like yard work, home improvement projects, sleep, Internet, etc.

hmmmm.......... I keep the pellet mix in a pet container for Sophie and Zoey, in a plastic bag for Cricket and Benji. The mash is a tupper ware type container holds almost a weeks worth of food. Birdy bread in plastic and the other stuff usually in its own wrapper. Oh yeah!! Sprouts are kept in a tupper ware container too. Gosh, I wonder if there is anything else I should be feeding fids???

Bean/veggie/pasta mix gets frozen in small snack baggies- I put 1 serving in each corner so I don't have to get out my hammer and chisel to break off what I need for the day.

I put a layer of newspaper on top of the grate and change once or twice daily which eliminates scrubbing the grate.

I freeze rice and veggie mixes in individual portions wrapped in foil and then in a plastic freezer bag. Birdie bread and sweet potato balls are also frozen away. I just pull something out of the freezer every night, except when they get eggs (not very often).

I spot clean cages daily (wipe down perches and grates) and really thoroughly clean on the weekends. I put many layers of newspapers in their trays so that every night I just take off the top layer of dirty papers.

I make my husband do all the hard work like cage/aviary cleaning. He has two to do now with Ixchel and Yaxche in quarantine.

For the most part, my whole set up is efficient. One feeding station shared by all so I don't usually have to do seperate meals.
