Default Dollar Store Sisal Rope

Has anyone used this? I smelled it and it didn't smell like it had been treated. Just wanted some reassurance before I use it.

It falls apart and makes a huge mess! Plus they can ingest it and its like a splinter. We got it from Home Depot to wrap the legs of Buddy's perch. He doesnt chew it but it makes climbing easy. Its breaks all over and makes the biggest mess! I personally wouldnt use it again.

That's weird - I wonder if the one you got was defective? I have sisal rope on different things and haven't had a problem with it falling apart or making a huge mess. Tiffany - I would think if it doesn't feel greasy and doesn't smell - it would be safe.

most sisal is petroleum based in the treatment that goes on it.... please be careful with what you buy... it MUST be NON TREATED.
