Default Quito and Tausi's cages and gyms

Here's the cages, Quito's on the left and Tausi's on the right. Tausi's going to be getting a new larger cage when my Income Tax refund arrives! Also shows the full spectrum lighting overhead:

Here's one showing the play stands Quito normally hangs out on. Tausi uses them too, but only if Quito's in her cage:

This is Tausi's Bottlebrush gym, which I added to with a Lilac branch and a Boing. Quito's not allowed on it when he's on it. I generally have to remove her about ten times a day. She loves to harass him :

I really like the looks of those natural branch play gyms. That is what Ollie's next gym is going to be.

Do you like your corner cage? I've heard conflicting opinions on them. You say Tausi is going to be getting a new cage- will you stick with another corner one?

Camille, I have conflicting opinions on the corner cage myself. It's a great solution for....well, a corner of course! And, it's a good looking cage. On the other hand, there really isn't a lot of space in it for its size, which sounds contradictory. The thing is, it just seems awkward to set up with perches and toys and such. That big expanse of curved front is pretty much all taken up with food dishes and the door. The back part is pretty much inaccessible because it's so deep from the door. You look at the dimensions and it seems pretty good size, but there just doesn't seem to be a lot of useable space.

Other than that, my only real complaint is that in order to fit newspaper to the pan, you have to cut them to fit because that whole front is curved, so you can't just fold it. It's also larger than one sheet of newspaper will cover, so you have to cut two pieces. I change papers daily, and every day I cuss. I've gotten really good at cutting them, but it sucks.

There is a magnificent humongous corner cage (with flat panels, not curved) that I would love to have, but the bar spacing is too big for a Poi Boy. That's the only other corner cage I've found, so no, the new one probably won't be a corner cage.

I never even thought of the tray cleaning. Cutting newspaper would drive me nuts too! I do like the look of them, but I just can't see the practicality. Plus, what if you don't always have a corner to put it in! You can still put a regularly shaped cage in the corner, but a corner cage not in a corner would look plain silly!

I like the bright blue on the cage. It's a nice color! Better than just boring white or black, imo.

Very cool play gyms. I think you did a very nice job on them!

Love the play gyms Nate! I'm talking with Wayne as we speak about him making a hanging gym for Cosmo and Zoey. They keep flying to Kirby's bottlebrush gym and chewing on it, so I guess it's time they had their own!

Nate, you have a great set up there! What an awesome bird daddy! I wish they would get along well enough you could have them together. I guess Quito is the boss?

With close supervision I can have them out at the same time, but yeah, they pretty much have to be separated. Quito, though smaller, is just so pushy and persistent. Tausi has made it clear that he really wants nothing to do with her, but with Quito, yes means "yes", and no means "hell yes you betcha"! Although he's always been very gentle with his beak with me, it is big enough to do some real damage to her. Now that Tausi is becoming flighted, I'm hoping that the situation might actually improve somewhat in that perhaps he'll discover that he can just fly away when she's being a pest. Hopefully he won't take that to the next level and pursue her with an eye to teaching her a lesson!
