As I posted on the Toos thread I started, besides selling toys on my website I also sell some on ebay.Well on ebay I have people email me with all kinds of questions about their birds.Personally I would have never thought about looking for bird advice on ebay I have one lady who has emailed me about her Too ,for basic Too info and plucking info as well.I have a few pluckers here,but once they have checked out medically I don't stress over the lack of feathers.I do try to design toys for them to maybe deter them,but I love um even if they are naked and it doesn't hurt me to look at them like this lady stated.I've never tried any of the quick fixes offered for sale.Has anyone ever tried any one of them and had success?? How about any specific toys that you think may have helped??I'm in it for the birds,so if it means telling them to buy a toy that will help their bird that's someone else is selling I'm okay with that. How about any specific diet changes that may have helped?? Any advice I can pass along would be appreciated.TIA

Michelle, here's a picture of a toy that I make all the time. It has really helped my guy who likes to aggressively preen at times. I probably make two of these toys a week. Not only does he preen them he also chews at the straws.

I separate a length of colored sisal or cotton rope into 3 strands and feed it through straw. I usually do 6 straws to a toy. You can put whatever you'd like at the top to hold them all together. Sometimes I use a thick square of leather with a hole punched in the middle or a large whiffle ball and tie my strands to the holes.

I think I have tried them all to curb the aggressive agitated preening, along with several of the essences and other holistic remedies. The only thing that has worked here to take the edge off of an aggravated state is Chamomile tea. I use the large 2 quart water bowls here and I will add a good 1/2 cup to it for my Greenwing. He loves the taste of it and it relaxes him. Chamomile tea contains no caffeine.

OH I've been through it all (I mean it all) with Meko (CAG) and she goes through ups & down she has only one toy that she likes to play with it is the planet pleasures pinyada. She is just a plucker and more than likely will be for life.
With Charlie (M2) I find that Pluck No More helps calm her down, she is doing really well.
You should mention ParrotChatter to your clients, having support really helps as well.

I've just posted some pics of Sandra in the 'too section showing her improvement. She came to us as a feather plucker at the end of October and is just about fully feathered now. There's not a great deal available in the way of pellets for large birds in Australia so we started giving her a low salt dry dog food that was for sensitive skin. It has alot of the omega 3 and 6 in it. That's when she started improving. I know the dry dog food coincidentally worked with Sandra, but she also had quite a bit of freedom and lotsa gum branches and chewing stripping things too.
