Default Saw the most gorgeous English Budgie tonight..

*Sigh*

Before Yoga this evening I stopped at a pet store that I don't normally go to. I picked out a few toys for the fids and noticed a small bird room with budgies, tiels, finches, and lovebirds.

And then in a cage in the far corner, was the most Beautiful English Budgie I have ever seen - well in person anyways. English budgies are not common to find in pet stores around here.

I melted, my knees went a little weak. It was a good thing that I needed to head to Yoga when I first noticed him otherwise I would have been there for quite awhile.

He actually looked like the English version of Jerry - opaline and baby blue coloring with maybe a touch of gray in the blue. Bright blue cere just like Jerry's. He was in excellent feather and the woman at the counter said he was roughly a year old. He had many navy blue spots at his neck, he had a double layer of spots even - not sure if this is common to the English Budgies or not.

I even went through the "What Ifs" in my head.... I talked to the woman at the counter about him, he had been there for 2 or 3 months. She knew he was special as well. Price tag of only $19.95 (more than likely not tame, and he really didn't pay much attention to me, nor did he mind me near his cage and staring at him, he was busy with a mirror toy..) - but of course my husband reminded me that in reality he would cost me hundreds (cause ya know, I called him right away to tell him about this budgie! ).

*Sigh*

I say RUN back to that store in the morning and buy that baby! You said yourself that you normally wouldn't go into that pet store right? So maybe, just maybe "something" was telling you to go there. Something like, Oh I don't know....what could it be, what could it be.... oh maybe... FATE!! Okay, now that you have something more to think about I'll leave you alone now too. Sweet dreams! That is if you can actually sleep. I know you'll be thinking about that baby all night. Okay, NOW I'll leave you alone.

Oh man - you guys are BAD influences!!

Lara, there's one at the clinic now? Is he/she boarding or up for adoption?

Tiffany - I'm not getting one (as of this moment LOL), but Jerry and Lulu go in to the AVs on Saturday for their annual well-check and Lara is going to be at the clinic to meet my guys.

I've been thinking about this all morning and Dave would kill me if I was seriously considering it ....but he's already seen the twinkle in my eye

Ha ha! Yes Tiffany, we are bird pushers. But I wasn't until I met you! I know your motives too. You just don't want to be the only bird hoarder on "Animal Cops"! If you're going down, then we all go with ya!!

You just know you're going to cruise by that pet store again this week Sarah! Would Dave really KILL you? I don't think so...He LOVES you and wants you to be happy. You can blame us! We're okay with that!! Right Tiff?

You bet I'll be popping in to that pet store this weekend! I actually didn't even know that this particular store was there until last week, and decided to go in last night. And the torturous thing is that it's right down the street from my Yoga studio so I will drive past it twice a week!

Dave has agreed to go and look at this big guy - that's a good sign. Last night I told him he had to go and see him and he agreed.

Over the past few months there was a little Red Bellied girl that I had fallen in love with at another pet store. Also on my way to Yoga, I would stop in there and talk to her. She was the sweetest thing - and I do believe I was one of her Chosen Ones. She would let me scritch her all night if I could, and she would follow me around in her cage to get closest to me. She had the cutest voice possible, a girly high-pitched voice and she would say "Pretty Girl!" and "I love you!" The other workers in the store were kind of amazed because she really didn't take to many people at all and she usually bit everyone else.

So last weekend I went in to visit my little girl and she was gone. My heart kind of sank in thinking that she got shipped to a different store because she didn't sell quick enough (she was there for months and months). As I was hanging out with the other birds all the workers came up to me one by one and said that she was just sold the previous night.

But the best thing is that it sounds like she went to a good home - she also took to the woman who bought her. And the woman has experience with birds so I'm happy for the little cutie. The thing that made me not think about giving her a home myself was that she did not like men - even though she bit most people that tried to handle her, she seemed to not like men at all. And Dave has to be able to handle any and all birds in our house.

But I still think about that little girl all the time.

Aww Sarah I know how you feel. We have similar feelings for a CAG in a local petshop. Who is STILL there!

I think Dave will cave when he meets the cutie! But I don't mind being blamed at all. Like Vicki said- I don't want to be the only animal hoarder! LOL J/k. I do think Jerry would love someone to play with thought... Even if you guys don't get him I think you should take some pictures of the little guy.

And even though I think any bird would be VERY lucky to have you all, I know you have to do what is right for YOU and your exsisting flock. So I hope what is meant to happen happens.

I need to stop and THINK. I mean I've been thinking about this alll day so far, but the blissful thinking with blue English budgies dancing around in my head I need to think about money, cage issues (Jerry's old cage would be fine for quarantine, but not for the long run - but Jerry's current cage has a divider - or if I were to get him his own standing cage where would I put it?? WHY am I even allowing my mind to think about cages?! Not good! ).

My main hangups are always with if they would all get along or cause more trouble. Right now Jerry and Lulu need constant supervision when out - another budgie would either take Jerry's mind off of Lulu and they could play together, or it would be three times the trouble instead of double trouble LOL.

And do I even have time to tame a bird at the moment...My time is crunched already with my work and long commute and the current critters. Once I start thinking realistically about all of that, it doesn't sound as good of an idea
