Talking My latest project

Hey guys!
I had to show you what my boyfriend and I started today. It's not completely done yet. We still want to add more things to it. Plus we aren't done covering the white parts. We used rope on the middle pipe so that our bird could easily climb to the next level. (good idea?) I think we're going to do that on the sides as well. The entire stand is quite sturdy! Well let me know what you all think!

Kris

PS: Nekkid One is 1 month today!!

Looks really neat! I think he's going to love it. Can't wait to see pictures of your bird playing on it.

I turned your one picture for you.

It looks great, especially for your first attempt! A few pointers: I really doubt he will be able to climb up the vertical pipe, even with the vetwrap. It may be possible on the one you have rope wrapped around. I recommend using more cross connectors with perches sticking out so you can arrange them in a step-wise fashiom. Also, I very much doubt that he will ever be perched clear down in the bottom square. They like to be as high as they can get. Also, I don't allow Ollie to sit at the very tip of of her PVC gym, as she will then sit ONLY there, and poop down onto her hanging toys.

Here are 2 pictures of Ollie's PVC palace. You will notice the perches in step-wise fashion- if they were any futher apart she wouldn't be able to reach them.

Hey Camille thanks for the advise! I was actually worried about him being able to get to the top perches. That's why I used the rope on the middle pole. I was thinking about taking it down and adding some step up poles, like you said. Do you think he'd be able to climb the rope with out step up perches? Also, what is "vetwrap"? And where do you get it? I used colored tape on the PVC pipe. but i was worried about him not being able to grip it very well.

I really don't know about climbing up the pole...Ollie doesn't have access to something like that to try so I have no idea what she's capable of.

I just assumed vetwrap is what you're using. It is medical tape for animals that can be found at any vet clinic. It is what I use to wrap around the PVC for traction. It works great. When it gets dirty, you just replace it! Use only the Vetwrap brand, as others have been known to bleed and get sticky when wet.
