Default Full Spectrum Lighting

Hubby and I are talking about lighting again, at the moment we have the birds in what is supposed to be our dining room. We are going to build a bird room but in the meantime I would like to get lighting in there.
What kind do you all use? Hubby is an electrician so the installation isn't a problem I'm just not sure what type.

I use a 4' shop light fixture with reflective "wings" I mounted to the ceiling above their cages. Right where a ceiling fixture used to be and in all other apartments I install a ceiling fan.

Wendy - I just use the cage top F/S lights by Featherbrite - the ones at we have at the store. They are all on timers. I like the look of them, but I assume in your aviary ou will want to have just a couple. They also have the hanging fixtures which I believe cover a 15' area if you are looking for something aesthetically pleasing.

I have a 4 foot long hanging fixture with downward reflectors and an electronic ballast (very important). The tubes are Philips, but I'm away from my computer right now where I have the exact number saved. I'll post that along with a picture of the light later this evening.

Here is a picture of Ollie's light fixture. I've heard the exact thing can be ordered from Home Depot, either online, or by visiting the store- I can't remember which.

Here are the bulbs I use for it: F32T8/TL/950 PHILIPS
F32T8/950 (F32T8/TL950) PH 32W T8 48" 209056 PHILIPS 5000K LAMP 98 CRI

Camille, is there anything special about the bulbs you use?(sorry, didn't look into those bulbs).

At the Goodwill by my house, they had a bunch of 48" (If I can remember correctly) bulbs by some eagle something brand, they said that they were full spectrum. They were $15 a piece but I can get them for half that on the last saturday of the month, is that a good price? And would they be good?

I also use the same ones (IMO the best available) as Camille, Karen, Tara, Kelly, Joanie, Lunch-Meat-Monster and others.
