Default Not quite in my backyard, but.....

they are in the state I live in.
This is what I do whenever I get the chance to go to the beach. We camp at a place just south of Myrtle Beach, SC. It is called Huntington Beach State Park and it has a wonderful assortment of wildlife. They conduct classes there year round to help you learn more about the beach and the park ecosystem. i normally take over 100 pictures during the time I am there. Here are just a few of the ones I have taken.

Brown Pelican

Tricolor Heron

Immature Double Crested Cormorant (Check out his eyes)

Wood Stork

Default Can't forget my gators! :)

I love Gators and of course I have to get pics of them.
This is my favorite
Gators taken at night waiting for crabs and fish to come over from the salt water marsh.

Look at that smile!

Banded Kingfisher when we were kayaking in the saltwater marsh

Great White Egret

So I guess you can see that I do at the beach - when I am not going to Margaritaville for a margarita that is. These pics were taken in the summer and Fall of this year. i am sure I will have more to add to the collection this year. Watching these guys never ceases to amaze me they are so fascinating! I eve did some videos of them - really cool to watch them fishing.

Gorgeous pics - thanks for sharing! I get to see a lot of blue herons and egrets and I have seen some brown pelicans in my area (NJ) but nothing like what you have shared with us.

Thanks Camille. The Tricolor was actually stalking something in the water. I will have to post a video of them hunting food - it is very cool to watch them.

The gators were not close - gotta love that 10 x zoom. Though I would have loved to be closer and touch them. What can I say I am a lunatic to some people - would love to swim with the sharks as well.

The gators do actually come up and cross the road to go voer to the saltwater marsh and have even been up in the campground especially at breeding time. I had one that crossed the road in front of me and I was able to get pictures of him - he was no more then about 6 - 7 feet away from me when I got some pics of him after he crossed and lay down. I was very tempted but I didn't. The park is very strict about things like trying to mess with any of the animals and it strictly forbidden to mess with them in any way.
