Attention: New Jersey Ringneck Owners Under the laws of the State of New Jersey it is illegal to own a Ringneck Parrot.
If you purchased what may have been identified as an Australian Parakeet when in fact it was a Ringneck Parrot from a bird establishment that is in Delran (formerly Cinnaminson) New Jersey, you can contact the New Jersey Fish & Wildlife Permits Division at 908-735-5450 to receive a special permit. Special permits have already been granted to eight birds identified to date. In addition to the Ringnecks, there are two Quakers who are also being granted immunity.
The stipulations to acquire the special permit are:
1. The bird must have been purchased at the bird establishment in Delran, New Jersey
2. You will need to identify the band letters and numbers, as all birds originated from the same breeder.
3. You must agree not to breed or rehome these birds. |
