I set up a play tree next to the Budgie cage. It's been there now for over a week. Each day I open the top of the cage and finally today...Eric's curiosity got the better of him.
Does anyone notice anything strange about Eric? This just floors me because I have never seen this happen before...and I have had plenty of male Budgies.
Eric has never flown into anything.
I have no idea what is up. Until about three months ago his cere was absolutely blue.
He is three years old.
If they are both female, how is it they get along so well?
I am totaly stumped!
3 yrs. old hmmm....If female I'd expect the cere to turn crusty brown before 3. I just did a quick search and there's a possibility that it could be illness related, specifically liver dysfunction.
Reproductive cancer also comes up in searches - some think that testicular cancer will cause an increase in estrogen, and the crusty brown ceres in females indicate increased levels of estrogen.
Hey I think Jac's right - just checked another post of your budgies, Susan. Eric has dark wings (and a blue cere in the photo I just looked at) and Rosie has white flights and a brown cere. That's a much better explanation than what I had to say!
