Default Budgies Preening

I don't know about you guys, but I adore sitting and watching the birds preen. I took these videos a few days ago.

Jerry preening - he does the cutest little between the legs move towards the end of the video, cracks me up every time:

Winston preening - you can really see how long his feathers are compared to Jerry's. He's a big ball of fluff:

Sarah, these two are absolutely adorable. So sweet! And I love the name Winston. Something about that name that makes me laugh. It's so cute!

It always amazes me that they are so trusting. Preening on your hand is so brave really. Laker & Rio preen just like Jerry. I thought the cute little upright posture at the end - kind of said, 'do you like me now?'

Yes Winston's feathers do look like a lot more work. I love the tail bend - cracks me up every time. I also love the divided beard - probably the only time you realize they have a regular parrot face with tons of feathers on each side of the beak.

They are so cute - I want to pick them up & cuddle them .....

Thanks for the videos.

Yep I was excited to get the tail bend on video Winston's beard cracks me up too (his whole face really).

Jerry had a revelation about the camera on the day that I took these. He generally tolerates me taking pictures but he's never been comfortable with holding the camera close to him for a continuous minute or two while taking a video. But I took a video of him chattering and then I replayed it back to rewatch - he flew over when he heard the chattering and he watched the video with me and from then on he was fascinated, just as he used to be when I'd record his speech with the audio recorder. It was as if he finally realized what I was doing with the camera and after that I shot more videos and he was very relaxed (as you can see from this preening video). I've even captured him talking a little up close on camera (I still have to go and edit those and I'll post them when I do that).

I've also concluded in the past week or so that he's the most trusting of me - moreso than he trusts Winston. He rubs his head on my nose often and allows me to be all up in his face. He doesn't even let Winston preen him. I truly think he's more bonded to me and Lulu than he is with Winston (yes, he still has a crush on Lulu). Winston is moody though and likes his alone time, so I'm sure that plays a part too.

I have never seen such preening! They win the preening award! We just love those itty bitty birdies! I liked the way they just flew off when they were done!
