Default Chronic egg layer coming our way

A fellow worker has a chronic egg laying Tiel, he asked if Rose and I could take this bird in.
Rose Ann handles all the exotics so I put this bird on her desk.
Rose made the call and she will be arriving tomorrow...
Pictures soon.....

You two beat all! I had a tiel that did that constantly and finally I re-homed her and she never laid another one. Guess she thought I wanted eggs. May have had something to do with the way I reacted when I saw the first perfect little egg in the bottom of her cage. I still have that egg! hee hee! Best of luck with her. I am thankful she has you all!

That's great you are giving this little one a new home.I hope you can get her to settle in and stop laying eggs.

That poor sweet, and exhausted baby, I'm so happy that she's coming to stay with the two of you, if anyone can help her it's the both of you. Wishing you both the best of luck, and keep us updated on how she's doing.

July 12 2008
Well, here's Appleonia, a 4 year old female Latino Tiel.
She just arrived, Her vent is very swollen, she is very dry and doing a lot of picking.
We have set up her cage, I think Rose will more than likely switch her cage and all new toys.
Her favorite 2 toys were brought along with her, both are cotton and fringe...nothing less than pure stimulation...
Her last eggs was yesterday.
Her past,
This bird was a former rescue, the folks that adopter her have cared for her for 3 years now.
She is a very pretty little bird that desperately needs a good bath.
I am sure Rose will schedule a vets appointment very soon.
We will weigh her in later after she settles in a little.

The owner was in tears when leaving...
This little one is in very poor shape, 98 grams.
Feather plucking and feathers falling out.
One sinus is completely blocked.
Rose Ann has clipped her wings and looked her over very well, things aren't good when my Rose cries...
The bird has had a good bath with moisturizers.
She is being treated for sinus infection, some areas were treated with aloe vera.
All this bird does is sit and pick....

The sinus issue has been cleared up, a bath is offered each day.
No eggs as of yet, but the male tiels are not far away, so this little one might be moved into my Rescue room soon.
When I mentioned baths to the owner "he said, Baths?".
Folks that wish to bring a bird into there world need to do some home work, I can't imagine this little bird going months and months with no bath.
The vet visit proved (malnutrition) but we knew that.
If the previous owners knew very little about this bird I can imagine the air fresheners and such things being used in the home.
This bird was kept "just to have", she doesn't know how to step up.
The regular baths are helping, not as much picking.
This birds diets is ridiculous, Pretty Bird Nuggets.....
These are fine as treats, but not a staple, this poor little bird doesn't have the energy to eat the nuggets.
She has gained 2 grams since coming to us, she doesn't touch veggies or fruits.
She is being kept away from all the other birds, Freddy has graduated and has been moved into the bird room.
Update soon.
