Default Roy's hormone-induced barfing.. ARRGG!

First I am sorry for poofing for so long.. work has sucked like all else!!!!

More importantly is Roy's hormones. We have been able to control territory issues (he has none! yay!), we are finding ways to ease his tantrums (which is nice!), have him on a nice looooong sleep schedule, cold showers, etc etc.. but what we can't stop is him barfing on EVERYTHING!

It's not even to a certain person, or in a certain place, and not a certain thing either.. which makes it very frustrating trying to figure out what to do. He suddenly just pins his eyes, gets a quick fluffy-dance in, kicks his head once or twice and.. well that's the end of it, puke. Of course then he holds it in his foot and hands it to me and says, "GOOOOOD????" which is so evil!

I've been trying to distract him for weeks now.. toys, games, puzzles, new foraging toys, noise makers, it's no use. He's got this sick game going where if he's across the room he'll slooowwwllyy reach his foot up and give his beak a tap. At first I didn't know what he was doing, but I guess it gets him going because whenever he does that once or twice, he feeds his foot.. AHH!

Each "spell" only lasts a few minutes, but I don't know how good it is to just let him do it. I'm scared he'll start to use it as an attention grabber as well. There are some days he just doesn't do it at ALL, and the next it's once every few hours. I can't find the trigger!

Suggestions on what we should do?? If anything?

Siigghh he makes me so tired!

You poor thing[s]! - how ghastly.

I hope you can weather this & maybe find a way around it. As I can't offer any help - I am sending you my sympathy.

This post cracked me up! Sorry Ashley, but I get such a kick out of Roy stories. He sounds like a piece of work, and I love it!

DITTO Mainly because I know exactly how nutty B&Gs are.

All of my fids regurgitate, but thus far, have eaten it every time when it gets up into their beaks. I would be aghast if they started trying to share it. UGHH I hate that sour smell!!!!!!!!!!!

Harley has puked for me once...which is weird being she's a girl and a baby lol...but she is VERY attached to mommy. Ask Maple...who gets attacked everytime Mom talks to her with Harley anywhere near.

Now...I can tell when she's going to start regurging...and I just tell her no thanks...and walk away from her and she stops. But I know that she only does it for me....it'd be a lot harder not being able to figure out what is triggering it.

Hmmmm.

Best of luck with that!

Silly B&G's!!

Roy, Roy, ROY!! You silly macaw! Ruby does that also some, but it is just for my benefit. And I do what Kris does. He will probably slow down with it I imagine.
