Default Menu Foods, we got them!

So the lawsuit is nearing completion and it looks like we won (sort of). There is 24 million waiting to be paid in claims for dead pets and probably another 12 million for the lawyers.

We'll get the 5K we spent trying to keep Seth alive and the money we used to buy a new Siamese but I'm really happy that we hit them in the wallet. I don't tend to buy into most lawsuits but I feel that this one is just.

I love you buddy, we didn't have enough time

I had no idea that you had to spend that kind of money & still lost him. Seth was a very handsome fellow. I'm very sorry for your loss. I remember when you first posted. This should never have happened & I know you must still feel sick about it - I know I would.

Vesper is a hoot.
The 2 pictures of him in his bed show so clearly how big he has become. He is very beautiful & a nice compliment to Blue's looks. I wish you lots of luck & happiness with your remaining kitties. I will look forward to seeing him mature.

Thanks,
I tried to change the title to be less inflammatory. I rescued Seth from a Siamese rescue in PA. His original owner was a breeder who died shortly after he was born. It took me a couple years to get him friendly but was well worth it.

Seth had a chronic vomiting problem which is why we tried to switch him to wet food. Our other cats did not and only ate dry food, this was the only reason I didn't end up with three dead cats. What still pissed me off is that the media and company talked about a dozen or so dead pets when the reality was thousands. We live in a globalized economy and I recognize the economic need to outsource but when doing so kills thousands of pets something is wrong with the company that allows it. The whole thing made me realize how much of what we buy is from one source. I pay about double for cat food now because 90 percent of products out there are from menu foods but they will never see another dollar from me.

Jared, I have done that for you... if you wish I can change it again if you don't like how I renamed it. Thank you for your consideration.

I am soooo sorry you lost your beloved pet. What a shame. I am glad you are getting at least some form of justice.

I'm not sure of the story here Jared or what happened exactly, but I am so sorry. Seth was beautiful. What a sleek looking cat.

I'm very, very sorry Jared. Seth was a gorgeous, regal guy. I hope this settlement brings you some peace.

Me neither, Jared. When the story broke in March 2006, I started cooking for my 2 cats and dog immediately because I was paranoid about all the pet food companies. I now buy from a company that grows and processes it own ingredients here in the USA! plus I'm still cooking.....I'm so sorry you lost Seth but glad you are making them pay!
