Default Ring My Bell

So there I was this morning, at the break of dawn, minding my own business....sleeping!

When all of a sudden I hear a bell ringing right outside my bedroom window. I get up to see what's going on and there is a squirrel that is reaching into the aviary to get an almond that was inadvertently left in a foraging ball that was attached to a big toy with a bell on it. I watch him as he gets the almond out, thinking to myself that I need to be sure all food is gone from the aviaries before nightfall. All is once again quiet so I go back to bed.

I no sooner get sleepy again and the bell goes off again! This time it is a furious ringing, not just a jangle like it was earlier. I get up, look outside again. This squirrel is on his hind legs on the deck railing, reaching up and into the aviary and with his front paws he is ringing the bell furiously! The bell didn't produce an almond like it did earlier, but he was not about to give up. He just kept ringing. My laughing didn't even stop him from his bell ringing task. It was the funniest thing I've seen!

I felt bad for the poor guy and got him some peanuts and corn, making a mental note to remove all food AND the bell at night!!

That's just too funny! Those squirrels are such nuts! I had fun with one once with vasiline on the bird feeder pole! Also with duct tape on a pole.

.
It could be worse.....
Like finding a squirrel on top of one of the cages inside the house.
I remember when you found a squirrel in your basement, 2 days later we found one on top of tanks cages, chewed a whole through the screen.....

Gotta loves those DAWN wake up calls from the critters! He thought that bell was placed there so he could wake you by your request!

What a cute story. No need for an alarm clock with Mr. Squirrel around, LOL!
