Re: A look at Pigeon Racing Some Racing Pigeons cost thousands of dollars, you won't find them being entered into a race, but you will find them breeding.
I have to be honest, some racing people do retrieve there birds when they don't find there way home, they are very pleased to get one of there birds home.
But the sport has really gone to h..l, many folks just care about a winner, one will read some of the best Pigeon keepers say "the sport has really gone down the drain".
And the racing Pigeon clubs, well all they care about is Payed Dues.
The federal government will eventually place rules unto the Racing Pigeon sport, why the clubs don't begin to re-gain control of the sport is beyond me.
A racing person I know entered 5 birds into a 500 mile race, only 2 made it home, hmmmmm wonder where the other 3 are, when I spoke to him the other day, he said this happens all the time.
Then you will hear these people say, "oh a Pigeon that has been hand raised won't survive in the wild, there are thousands of Racing Pigeons thriving in the wild, as well as Parrots, all where hand fed either in a loft, or by the breeder, and when I say hand fed, I mean a human has provided them seed and water all there life, never have they known Forage and or survival....
There out there, they have joined up with a feral flock and are helping to contribute to the Feral population.
And the clubs, instead of making new rules to follow such as one bird entered per race per loft, well they are more worried about hiring a lawyer to fight such regulations, they want the horrors to continue...
Now, you tell me, what does this tell you about this so called prestigious sport? |
