Default Another stray cat

Today he finally allowed us to help him, he was found digging in the garbage.
I went to get some cat food and Rose called and called for him to come.
He came to her just as I was handing her some food for him.
He sure was hungry, so I also provided a bowl of milk.
He stays under our deck, he appears healthy, but geeee he was hungry.
He ate well and now allows us to pet and hold him.
I am breaking a rule of mine, a rule I have followed to protect wildlife.
"All stray cats are trapped and handed over to the authorities".
Tears fell today as I held this little one.
He is definitely a threat to wildlife, Rose said she would adopt him, but won't risk our birds and or our rescues.
My bitter heart is beginning to change, so many little ones have fallen silent from
these strays.
Tomorrow I will call PAWS rescue and see if I can get this little feline into my friends rescue facility instead of calling the shelter.
Change is good....hopefully a good human will give this little one a loving home.

I have carried this bitterness long enough.....

You two are so sweet! Hope the kitty gets a good home. What a heartbreak for you. Why don't people do better?

Oh Arty, this brings back memories. My Poppa Johnson had a cat he got in the same way. It was a gray & white Manx that I named Everest. (Because he had such a hard road before we found him.)

Thank you all for your support.
Over the years I have become so bitter concerning this issue.
Seems wildlife always looses to this human created problem.
There's no collar on this feral, no way for me to hold the owner accountable.
There's no promises here, to assure the next owner (if there is one), will assure this little one will be kept inside the home at all times.
In the mean time another little bird or small wildlife falls silent.
Folks just don't get it, keep your pet cat indoors at all time to assure he/she is safe, and by doing so, you assure a little wild bird or ground squirrel can live the life given to them.
I will never change my ways when it comes to any program that practices the release of these predators back into the wild such as TNR, this program may help (a little) but sends a message to the general public, its okay to allow your cat to roam freely, after all....this is what we do...release them back into the wild so they can continue to do whats normal for them...to kill birds and other small animals.
Well hello, "your wrong", and spaying or neutering any animal doesn't address the issue, (people allowing there pets to roam freely).
Give wildlife a break TNR people, stop releasing these predators back on the streets to continue to kill, keep them in sanctuary's as your program claims to do, fully enclosed sanctuaries.
Not back onto the streets, by doing so you only encourage the general public to continue there ways, ways that are not working and continue to contribute to our shelters and fail wildlife on such a large scale, the numbers of those "little ones" fallen can't be counted.
Support the "keep cats indoors act", not TNR.
GIVE WILDLIFE A BREAK.

What a beautiful kitty! I'm so glad he found you and Rose to lend a hand. I believe that animals are attracted to good souls.
