OMG!!! I was coming in the back door....and Harley slipped out between my legs, I tried to push her in....I really did, and every other time she has just stood in the doorway....this time ....she took off....I stood there and watched her fly away...SCREAMING for Rob....fortunately she landed on the neighbors roof and screamed every time I called her so we found her within 2 minutes and got her down.

I feel like such a bad parront. I should have done something. OMG I feel like I am going to be sick. I have never been more scared in my life.

Thank God she didn't get far and helped us locate her fast. I can't believe she did that.

I'm gonna go cry now.

I know that feeling Kris. It happened to me! Theres not much you can do. Birds fly! The one thing I took from it was the experience served as a lesson. They CAN fly, they WILL fly, and not everyone is so lucky to get them back. Someone was watching over you today....

God I am a terrible mom.

I shook all night long when it happened. All I could think was I might not ever see him again. Because he was out of sight for a few minutes. The longest few minutes of my life! Just calm down. Take a deep breath and count your blessings. You're not a bad mom! It has happened to a lot of us here. You will see, you will be more careful from now on. Its ok...

Aww Sweet Kris! Bless your scared heart! You are a wonderful parront! Your baby just has a mind of her own, which is a good thing. We are thankful everyone will be in their own bed tonight! Ruby says "Harley, were you coming to see me????"

Kris, you're not a terrible Mom at all. Thank goodness you got him back so quickly! Count the many blessings sent your way today and remember to practice all the safety measures for living with a flighted bird. I think we all get a little complacent from time to time and as Leigh said this serves a reminder to us all that birds CAN FLY and WILL FLY!

Kris, you are not a bad mom! Stop that right now! This can happen to any one of us, and it has! Just relax now, you had the crap scared out of you, but it's over. Harley is safe and sound.

Sorry to hear of your scare. Is it stormy today as well, with high winds, black clouds & lightning? - it has been all day in & around TO....oh & lots of torrential rain?

This is probably a dumb question: Do you or can you use a 2 door exit - one with a small foyer? If so - perhaps it will be the door you use the most. [?]
