Default Want a healthy bird, read this.....

interesting fact that I just learned and want to share with you guys. Red Palm Oil from the actual fruit, not the kernel is much more nutritional. RPO is more than just an everyday oil, it has nutrients that can contribute to our birds daily energy and provides a valuable source of beta-carotene and vitamin E.

Each red palm tree yields more palm kernel oil than actual fruit oil, making the fruit oil much more valuable. Many lesser red palm oils (not red palm fruit oil) are diluted with the lesser quality red palm kerneloil. Palm kernel oils do not have the same beneficial properties and will not yield the same results in added health to pets as red palm fruit oil.

I just bought this at our local health food store and recommend this site for RPO yielded from the actual fruit and the price is excellent. I add to my birdie bread, keeping it most and healthy. It has a lasting temperature of 425 degrees, and at that point it looses it’s nutritional value. Since baking bread is normally at 350 degrees it shouldn't be a problem and of course there are many different ways to serve RPO to your birdies; you can drizzle on their veggies or pasta too. It is very healthy for you too and I am actually adding it to my Newfoundland's beef stew. I tasted this product and it has a pleasant flavor. Let me know what you think.

I wonder if I can grow a tree here.
Never looked for one in a nursery...I'll have to do that.

I guess we have the wrong kind of palm trees around our property as I couldn't find nuts on any of them. Or fruit for that matter!! I'm going to have to try it in the next batch of bird bread I make. I've had a hard time getting my guys to eat anything that has it in it.

Is this stuff better then Sunshine Factor?

Yup-I can grow one here. Kind of expensive though.

There's a few differences; The Jungle Products RPO is made from native Dura palms of West Africa (no plantation trees) and SF is made from trees grown in Brazil. I prefer to purchase RPO from Africa or Brazil trees, not Malaysia where it's harvested by destroying the Rain Forest.

The Jungle RPO is more economically priced than the SF.

Both are 100% Palm Fruit Oil.

I currently use SF and my birds love it, but I'm going to try the Jungle kind on my next purchase.

I agree with buying it from non plantation trees. Its a real shame how much rain forest is getting destroyed for bio-diesel. So much for it being good for the environment.

You guys rock! Jim ~ I'm such a visual person - now I can find it easier.

Loved the nuances about the Oil - back to reading the fine print - not so easy with these old eyes.
