Unhappy Refuge Birds from Okeechobee

This past week I have noticed many more birds than normal for this time of year. At first I couldn't figure out why but then realized it had to do with something that is happening in Florida.
The Lake Okeechobee area has been burning for over a week - hundreds of acres. We have seen the smoke and have had to stay inside as much as possible.
The wildlife is obviously running from the smoke & fire. It's heart-wrenching to think how many animals have perished or been displaced.
Guess it's time to put out more feeders.

I am letting people know here in SC to start putting out bird firders, too. These birds will need to be kept close to their natural setting as possible. We in SC have swamps, forest and vegation similar to FL. So if we here can help keep the FL birds south instead of making them go further north( where they will have a tougher time to survive). Today at work we had a group of Homeschoolers and they are going to make bird feeders out of recycled 2 lt soda bottles. I putting my mouth and foot forward to help preseverse our wild life.

Now the Gators are running as well. The fires in the Glades have brought them out. I have traveled Alligator Alley a dozen times and never seen a gator _ the news is reporting gators hit by cars and dozens spotted by the side of the road.
