Ruby just got hold of an ink pen!! Her mouth had ink in it and I had her bite on alot of wet paper towels and it seems to mostly be gone. Is ink poisonous?????

Step back and relax! Most inks are non-toxic and will not hurt your bird. Wipe all the excess ink off the bird and out of its mouth. If you have it I would put a cap full of aloe detox in the birds water bowl and feed some bread. Look and see what brand pen it is and check the MSDS sheet listed for the ink.

Our birds have done the same thing before, what a mess!

Whew! thanks Gary! Her pen was non-toxic. The vet called back and said she would be ok. Right now she is tearing up my favorite hair clip, so I guess she's happy! Thanks everyone! You all are quick!!!! Thank God! I aged 27 years! I will be more careful.

Poor jess !! A cockatoo named sunny who resides at bird paradise did this once..he got the ink all over his feathers and me,and the counter..But he was fine lol Silly birds !!

Good that Ruby is ok, it probably won't be a last time she does this since pens and pencils have hidden bird magnets inside, calling out to be chewed.
