If you find a wild animal that needs help, Please locate a wildlife rehab person.

You are a good egg Arty! I volunteer sometimes at the Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Center here in Houston. They do amazing things for all kinds of critters and birds and release most all of them.

When you locate one ask them what they do with the animals they take in. We turned over a RT Hawk to them and the put him to sleep because they already had to many

Thats unusual Michelle, I know this to be true about Wildlife rescue centers but never have I heard of a wildlife rehabber putting any animal down unless it was absolutely necessary.
Wildlife Rescue Centers do put animals down that could be saved, this is due to the numbers of animals that enter there facility.
A wildlife rehabber will do all he/she can to save a life.
I am thinking you have the two entities mixed up, but I could be wrong.
